Aden: At least 22 people have been killed and dozens injured in an attack on a plane carrying the prime minister and cabinet members of the newly formed government at Yemen's international airport. According to the international news agency, Aden airport in Yemen was targeted when a plane from Saudi Arabia arrived at the airport carrying the newly formed Prime Minister and cabinet members of the Yemeni government.
As members of the newly formed Yemeni government stepped out of the plane, two explosions followed and indiscriminate gunfire was heard. A stampede broke out at the airport and security personnel cordoned off the scene.
According to details released by the government on Twitter, more than 50 people have been shifted to a nearby hospital. Initially, five deaths were confirmed and later 17 more were confirmed. Security agencies have claimed that the prime minister and his cabinet have been evacuated.
It should be noted that on December 18, the internationally recognized Yemeni government and the separatists in southern Yemen formed a coalition government, while the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have refused to recognize the government.
