A meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan during which a 14-point agenda was considered. In the meeting, the Attorney General briefed the Cabinet on legal matters. Apart from this, the federal government provided funds to the provinces. The survey and Corona Relief Fund were also briefed.
The Federal Cabinet has approved the appointment of Chairman NDMA in the meeting. It may be recalled that Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Muhammad Afzal had retired on the 10th. The Cabinet also postponed the committee report on the use of the Metropolitan Club building. The meeting was also attended by CEOs of Ignite, a subsidiary of the Ministry of IT, permanent MDs of gas companies, CEOs of power distribution companies, members of Public-Private Partnership Authority, BOGs, Board of Trustees of Employees Old-Age Benefits Institutions. Reconstruction and community welfare missions have been approved in Pakistan missions abroad.
An investigation report on the petroleum crisis was presented in the federal cabinet during which the committee's recommendations were discussed. Some federal ministers demanded a strong response to the inquiry report and stern action on which Prime Minister Imran Khan revoked the licenses of oil companies. A three-member committee comprising Asad Umar, Shirin Mazari, and Shafqat Mahmood has been constituted to review the recommendations of the inquiry report. The committee will prepare recommendations for action on the inquiry report.
During the meeting, questions were also raised in the cabinet as to what was the responsibility of the concerned ministries on the petrol crisis, while Nadeem Babar continued to explain during the cabinet meeting. During the meeting, several ministers including Faisal Wawda and Ali Zaidi asked questions. Faisal Wawda said that why the licenses of the companies involved were not revoked. Faisal Wawda demanded that the Prime Minister give instructions regarding the revocation of licenses. In the meeting, Ali Zaidi also demanded action against those responsible. Ali Zaidi said that the companies made illegal profits and the law should be amended. Prime Minister Imran Khan said that action would be taken against the companies involved in the petrol crisis.
