The Indian state of Jharkhand has made it a condition to quit smoking for government jobs.
The government has made it mandatory for all employees to swear that they will not use tobacco in any form. The Jharkhand government has taken this step in line with its efforts to make its offices tobacco-free.
This law will come into force in the state of Jharkhand from April 1, 2021. Orders have been issued by the state's health, education, and family welfare departments in this regard.

Under the new law, anyone who will apply for a government job in the future will also have to swear that they will not use any form of tobacco.
