Famous Indian actor Kamal Haasan asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi a sticky question.
Kamal Haasan, head of the political party Mukul Nidhi Maim (MNM), asked Narendra Modi why a new parliament building was needed at a time when half of India is hungry.
On Sunday, the MNM chief, in a statement released on a social networking site, demanded an explanation from the Indian Prime Minister.
He asked Narendra Modi to explain what is the rationale behind spending Rs.1000 crore for the construction of a new parliament building.
Kamal Haasan added that even at a time when more than half of India's population is starving and suffering from economic hardship due to the global epidemic Coronavirus.
Prominent actors and politicians have criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim to build a new parliament building like the centuries-old Great Wall of China.
He said that thousands of people had died during the construction of the Great Wall of China, which the dragon rulers had said was built for the protection of the people.
Kamal Haasan raised the question just hours before the start of his campaign for the South Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and said, "Honorable elected Prime Minister, you answer."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the new parliament building on December 10, which is expected to be completed by 2022.
Tamil Nadu's state assembly elections will be held in April-May 2021, with Haas alleging that the authorities did not allow him to campaign in urban areas at the last minute.
