He apprised the Japanese Ambassador about the possibility of a Japanese-based developer for the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone in Sindh and also invited businesses to set up units in the economic zone.

Responding to the ambassador's suggestion, Atif Bukhari said that the Board of Investment would approach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the opening of a trade consulate in Osaka.
It should be noted that there is a Pakistani consulate in Osaka but it has no staff and is overseen by the embassy in Tokyo.
According to available information, Pakistan's a trade and investment consul in Japan is based at the embassy in Tokyo.
The BOI chairman also invited Japan to join the government's development plan for Karachi.
He said that there were excellent investment opportunities in transport facilities including upgrading of the existing water supply system, Karachi Circular Railway, and Kemari to Pipri Rail Line.
On the occasion, the Japanese Ambassador said that Japan was already assisting in the improvement of the water supply system in Faisalabad and he could also consider Karachi.
The meeting also discussed Pakistan's fisheries sector.
The Japanese ambassador said that the government and the private sector would be urged to invest in Pakistan's fishing industry, adding that the Japanese were already engaged in fisheries projects such as the Korangi Fish Harbor Project.
