According to agricultural experts, the production of olive oil has started in the country after 15 years. Agricultural research institutes and experts have achieved the desired results after hard work. The agronomists of Barani University, Chakwal, while giving good news to the nation, said that the experiments of local cooking oil production in the country were successful, 84 types of trees were researched, out of which 21 varieties were successful The Prime Minister was also apprised of the significant success in the production of olive oil, on which the Prime Minister directed to increase the production of olives under the Billion Tree Project.
According to sources, the Prime Minister said that in order to reduce the import bill, we have to increase the production of olives. If the production is increased, we will be able to export instead of importing. To meet the needs of the country, we have to import ڈھ 2.5 billion worth of edible oil. Rising prices abroad also increase the price of ghee in the country. According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that we have to move towards value-added services in the agricultural sector and take revolutionary steps for the production of local ghee and oil.
It may be mentioned that 840 orchards have been set up in and around Chakwal to increase local oil production. These orchards have been planted under the Billion Tree Tsunami Project, which aims to increase the production of olive trees.
