Egypt: 7 Corona patients die in hospital fire

A fire in a hospital's intensive care unit in Egypt has killed seven corona patients and injured five others.

According to the foreign news agency 'AP', the local police said that the fire broke out in a private hospital in Cairo's suburban district of Obor.

The injured and other patients were taken to nearby hospitals after the incident, police said.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and contained the blaze, while police and prosecutors launched an investigation into the blaze.

Egypt's state-run Al-Ihram newspaper reported that an initial investigation had identified the cause of the fire as an electrical short circuit.

A similar fire broke out in June in the Corona virus ward of a private hospital in Alexandria, killing seven patients and injuring one.

Earlier in May, a fire broke out at the Corona Virus Isolation Center in Cairo, but no casualties were reported.

Egypt is once again witnessing an increase in cholera cases, forcing the government to isolate Corona patients and reopen a hospital dedicated to treating them.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health on Friday confirmed a record 1,113 cases and 49 deaths in the country.

The total number of people infected with Corona in the country has reached 130,126, while 7,309 people have died.

However, it is believed that in a country with a population of more than 100 million, the actual number of people infected with the virus due to Mahmood testing is many times higher.
