A counterfeit spice factory has been set up in India where spices were being made from things that made people gasp. According to the Daily Star, the factory was set up in the Indian city of Agra, where red chillies, turmeric and other spices were being made from donkey dung and acid. Police raided the factory and recovered more than 300kg of materials, including donkey dung, dry grass, edible dyes, acid drums and other items.
Police also detained several people, including factory owner Knox Varshney, and sent 27 samples from the factory to the laboratory. According to police, a case will be registered against Varshney for violating the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. Varshney did not even have a factory license nor did he register the names of his products. The case is being further investigated.
