Punjab Minister for Prisons Fayyaz Chauhan said that Maryam Nawaz was given the best cell and he was sentenced to VIP jail.
Talking to media in Lahore, Fayyaz Chauhan said that surprise visits have been made to improve the conditions of the jails. We are introducing a policy of providing good quality food and breakfast to the inmates in the jails. Numbers are allowed to be spoken and the sixth number will be mine, inmates will be able to express their grievances on my number, any inmate will be able to call the Minister of Prisons directly.
Fayyaz Chauhan said that Maryam Nawaz remembers the food containing rats and fungus after two years. He was given the best cell, his cell had a separate deputy superintendent of staff while there was a lawn in front of the cell and he had access to it 24 hours a day, he was given a stove.
He added that Begum Safdar had complete freedom to order eggs, double bread and milk from the jail canteen and no man was allowed to enter the cell where she was present. She used to make coffee sandwiches and tea herself while The best-tiled washrooms were provided.
The Minister for Prisons suggested that just as Bilawal had a test done a day before Bakhtawar's engagement, Maryam Nawaz should also have a corona test before her grandmother's funeral and burial.
