Thanks to our efforts, the current account surplus remained after 17 years, Prime Minister

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he is proud that thanks to our efforts on economic reforms, our current account has gone into surplus in the last quarter after 17 years.

Addressing the 'New Pakistan Certificate Launching' ceremony in Islamabad, he said that it was a great achievement which could not be publicized.

"We focused on improving the export industry,"

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that our exports have increased by 24%.

"Remittances have also increased due to the concessions given by the SBP,"

Imran Khan said that the current account surplus was also due to the decline in imports.

"This positive development needs to be taken forward and in this regard, I think the New Pakistan Certificate initiative will play a key role," he said.

"We will try to persuade Pakistanis living abroad to keep their money in Pakistan,"

He said that half of the tax revenue goes to the installment of loans and if overseas Pakistanis transfer their money to Pakistan through New Pakistan Certificate, the country would benefit a lot.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the value of our rupee is strengthening without spending dollars in the market.

He quoted Finance Advisor Dr. Hafeez Sheikh in the context of primary balance as saying that our income is above expenditure.

Imran Khan said that if the debt burden of the previous governments had not been borne, the country would have been moving in the right direction economically.

He said that no loan has been increased in the last four months and there is a sense of difficulty in this regard as there is trouble when expenses are reduced.

Paying homage to Dr. Hafeez Sheikh and his team, the Prime Minister said, "It is a great achievement that the debt has not increased in the last four months."

"The record sales of cement show that our construction industry has grown exponentially," he said.

Imran Khan said that according to an estimate, as much money as Pakistan's GDP is kept by overseas Pakistanis abroad.

He also said that overseas Pakistanis will be able to bring money from the scheme and will get good returns.

Talking about sugar prices, Prime Minister Imran Khan assured that in future the government would not allow the sugar mafia to manipulate prices.

Prime Minister Imran said it was "unfortunate" that there was a sugar mafia in the country.

He added that the Competition Commission had disclosed the process and the government had taken steps to ensure that prices in the industry were not manipulated.

The prime minister acknowledged that food prices had risen, but said "all other economic indicators are positive."

He said that it was not only Pakistan which was suffering from food inflation but also neighboring India was facing the same challenge.

Imran Khan said the reason behind the rise in food prices was that the supply chain was affected by the corona virus.
