It should be noted that besides New Zealand, the London Metropolitan Police and Scotland Police in the United Kingdom also have the option of wearing hijab for female police officers.
The hijab was approved in London in 2006 and in Scotland in 2016.
In Australia, meanwhile, for Victoria Police, a police officer named Mahaskar wore a hijab with his uniform in 2004.
According to the report, New Zealand Police says that the process of bringing hijab for female officers has been going on since 2018.
It was Zina Ali who requested to wear hijab with uniform.
Zina Ali was born in Fiji, Oceania, but moved to New Zealand as a child.
She said she wanted to join the police force after the Christchurch attack.
"I think more and more Muslim women need to come to the police to help people," she said.
Zina said she was glad she would go out and show people the hijab in a New Zealand police uniform.
He said that in view of this, more and more Muslim women would like to join the police.
