In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that wide-ranging cooperation between Pakistan and Iran would have a positive impact on peace and stability in the region.
According to Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), Iranian Foreign Minister Jawad Zarif visited GHQ and met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, during which issues related to friendly relations and neighborhood were discussed.
According to ISPR, the meeting focused on Afghan reconciliation process and Pak-Iran border management, including border and defense issues, peace and regional security issues.
On the occasion, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Pak-Iran wide-ranging cooperation would have a positive impact on peace and stability in the region.
The Iranian Foreign Minister said that Pakistan's role in peace and stability in the region is commendable, especially Pakistan's role in the Afghan peace process.
It may be recalled that the Iranian Foreign Minister had arrived in Pakistan on a two-day official visit yesterday. Additional Secretary AIT at Noor Khan Airbase, Iranian Ambassador Syed Mohammad Hosseini received the distinguished guest.
Diplomatic sources said that a high level political and economic delegation accompanied by the Iranian Foreign Minister also reached Islamabad while Iran's Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Ibrahim Tahirian was also included in the delegation.
According to the Foreign Office Spokesperson, during his visit to Pakistan, the Iranian Foreign Minister will hold meetings with President Arif Alawi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and also hold delegation-level talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood.
