The government of Pakistan and Kashmiris around the world celebrate October 27 every year as "Black Day". On October 27, 1947, India illegally occupied Kashmir in the dark of night, which is still in place. Kashmiris remind UN to fulfill its promise of referendum in Jammu and Kashmir.

On the occasion of Black Day, protests, rallies and demonstrations are organized by Kashmiris all over the world including Azad Kashmir, Occupied Kashmir and Pakistan against India with the aim of Indian occupation of Kashmir and massacre of Kashmiris by the international community. In addition, Kashmiris on both sides of the LoC will also protest against the Indian move.
According to the Kashmir Media Service, there have been more than 100,000 martyrs in the Occupied Territories since 1989, while 11,000 women have been raped and 22,000 widowed, and millions of children have been orphaned by Indian state terrorism.
On August 05, 2019, the BJP, India's extremist ruling party, forcibly made Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh part of the Indian Union by repealing Articles 35A and 370, ending the special status of occupied Kashmir. Since then, a curfew has been imposed in the valley, telephone service and internet have been shut down, while there is a severe shortage of food and medicine. Despite the lockdown by India, a complete strike is going on in the occupied valley today at the request of Hurriyat leaders to observe Black Day. Due to the curfew, occupied Kashmir has become the largest prison in the world. Thousands of people have been forcibly taken into custody, thousands of youths have been abducted and imprisoned at unknown locations, while detainees and abductees are being treated inhumanely and ridiculed.
