Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi took over as the new Chief of Naval Staff.
A ceremony of change of command of Chief of Pakistan Navy was held at Naval Headquarters PNS Zafar in the presence of senior dignitaries including foreign ambassadors. Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi handed over the command of Pakistan Navy to Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi.
Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi has taken over as the 22nd Chief of Naval Staff. Addressing the change of command ceremony, the retiring Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi congratulated the new Chief of Naval Staff Amjad Niazi.
Admiral Zafar Abbasi said that special attention was paid to the professionalism of Pakistan Navy, 4 Chinese frigates will join Pakistan Navy in next 2 years, PNS Yarmouk has become part of Pakistan Navy and commissioning of PNS Hebat this year. Admiral Zafar Mahmood said that a naval base is being set up in Gwadar, Marine Training Center has been shifted from Karachi to Gwadar.
The new Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, was commissioned in the Operations Branch of the Pakistan Navy in 1985 and received the Sword of Honor from the Pakistan Naval Academy. During the tension, Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi commanded the Pakistani fleet that tracked the Indian submarine in Pakistani waters.
