The graves of martyred Kashmiris were exhumed in a fake encounter of Indian forces

After the exhumation of the bodies of three youths who were martyred in a fake encounter in Indian-administered Kashmir, their bodies were handed over to their relatives.

According to a foreign news agency, young Imtiaz Ahmed, Abrar Ahmed and Abrar Khatana were martyred in a fake encounter by Indian forces in Shopian on July 18 this year.

The families of the martyred youths continued their protest for two months and denied the allegations leveled against them by the Indian forces. After which, on September 18, the Indian forces admitted that the youth had been falsely accused of armed activities.

A statement issued by the Indian Army acknowledged that the three youths were laborers belonging to Rajouri area of Jammu and that Indian authorities had taken action against them for abusing their powers under special laws.

Earlier this week, a local police officer said DNA tests had identified the victims and their bodies would be exhumed and handed over to relatives.

It should be noted that the incidents of killing of Kashmiri youth in fake encounters are increasing in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has raised the issue in several international forums, including the United Nations, and called for an investigation.
