Tehran: Corona virus cases increase, one week lockdown

The Iranian capital, Tehran, has been locked down for a week due to an increase in corona virus cases, educational institutions, mosques and public places have been closed, while all kinds of social events will be banned.

The lockdown, which will continue until October 9, comes after experts feared a fivefold increase in corona virus cases and a three percent increase in deaths in Tehran.

On the other hand, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has announced fines and severe punishments for violators of the Corona virus sanctions, government employees who do not comply with the sanctions can be suspended for one year.

Banks, offices and shops have also been asked not to provide facilities to those who violate the sanctions and those who do not take precautionary measures, and those who provide such facilities will be fined.

The number of corona virus cases in Iran is more than 468,000 and the death toll is more than 26,700.
