Saddam Hussein's "shadow" also died

Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's right-hand man has died. Izz al-Duri was appointed vice president by Saddam Hussein in 1979 and held the post until the arrest of the former president in 2003. Therefore, he was also called the shadow of Saddam Hussein. After the US invasion of Iraq and the overthrow of the government, he was among the victims of the atrocities of the coalition forces with Saddam Hussein. Azza al-Duri was also the vice president of the Socialist Ba'ath Party, which ruled Iraq in the past. The Ba'ath party has long ruled Iraq.

The late Izz al-Duri served as vice president of the Revolutionary Council during Saddam Hussein's rule. He was also appointed Deputy Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces after the invasion of Kuwait. He always walked like a shadow with Saddam Hussein. This continued until July 17, 1968, when Saddam Hussein was captured by US forces.

According to Arab media, Al-Duri was born on June 1, 1942. He got married five times and had 11 sons and 13 daughters. He was also the Minister of Interior and Minister of Agriculture during the rule of the Ba'ath Party. When the sun of Saddam Hussein's rule set in 2003, he disappeared, although the Ba'ath party announced at the time that he had been appointed general secretary of the Ba'ath party after Saddam Hussein's execution in 2006.

Remember that for the past several years there has been no information about where they live. However, audio and video messages attributed to him kept coming up in different periods. Five years ago, he was rumored to have been killed in a clash in the northern city of Tikrit. At that time, a picture was circulating which was called Al-Duri's body. The picture showed a man with a henna-colored beard, whose shape resembled that of a great distance. At the time, Iraqi authorities refused to identify the body as Izzah al-Duri after a DNA test.
