Russian presidential candidate defeated by cleaning girl

Russian presidential candidate Vladimir Putin's candidate was defeated by the girl who won the mayoral election.

According to a report by a foreign news agency, Marina Udgodskaya worked as a cleaner in a local office in a rural village in Russia four years ago.

In the local elections for mayor, Marina ran in the election to meet the number of candidates, in which she won by a landslide.

Marina Edgodskaya will now look after the affairs of a small district of 29 villages, 400 kilometers from Moscow.

Gas is not available in the village, and the locals use firewood to keep their homes warm in the winter.

Her victory in the mayoral election was nothing short of a shock to the outgoing mayor as she nominated Marina as her opponent to run in the election.

This victory was also a surprise for Marina as she did not campaign in this election and did not expect to win.

Earlier, Marina said in her first interview that she looked surprised at her victory, describing herself as a small candidate.

"If people choose me, I will work for them," she said.

Talking to the news channel, Marina thought that people will really vote for me, I have not done anything.

Contrary to expectations in the election, Marina got 62% of the votes and the rival candidate got only 34% of the votes.
