Russia's envoy to the United Nations has called on the Security Council to suspend sanctions on Iran.
Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, told the UN Security Council on Thursday that a "snapback mechanism" would not be implemented to restore sanctions against Iran, according to a foreign news agency.
He said the issue of resumption of sanctions against Iran would never be raised in the Security Council.
It should be noted that the United States has strongly accused Iran of supporting terrorism and terrorist organizations and called for the restoration of serious sanctions.
The Security Council requested that in addition to the International Atomic Energy Agency's ongoing inspections in Iran, that it monitor Iran's compliance with "the steps required by the IAEA Board".
