Progress on the plan to connect the Gulf countries by rail

 

The Minister for Transport called on the Chairman of Pectal Company on the plan to connect Saudi Arabia with GCC countries by railway line.

Saudi Transport Minister Engineer Saleh Al-Jasser and Steward John, Regional Chairman of the Saudi company Pactal, discussed the possibility of modernizing the railway line and connecting Saudi Arabia with the GCC countries through the railway line.

The GCC countries have been planning to build a 1,350-mile railway line for about 15 years. There has been limited progress on this project.

Experts expect the grand project to connect the GCC countries to the railway line to be completed in 2023.

It will be connected to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman by rail. In the next phase, Kuwait and Bahrain will be part of it.

 Eventually, Qatar will join, but the details of its participation have not been decided yet.
