Pakistani girl selected for first Muslim female superhero series

Leading Hollywood film studio Marvel Studios has selected a Pakistani-American girl for the first Muslim superhero female TV series.

Marvel Studios has selected Iman Walani, a teenager from New Jersey, for the first Muslim female superhero series.

Marvel Studios quoted Iman Walani in a post as saying that she is a Pakistani-American citizen in Jersey and a high school graduate student.

Iman Walani's ancestors and parents are from Pakistan, but she herself was born and raised in the United States.

Iman Walani started her career with director Minhaj Baig's film Halla last year before working in a superhero film.

In the said film, Iman Walani had played the role of a Pakistani girl named Hala and the story of the film revolves around her.

The film shows how, despite living in a country like the United States, Hala lives a life of restrictions in a somewhat conservative Pakistani family and cannot fall in love with the opposite sex even if she wants to.

Iman Walani's performance in Halla was highly appreciated and his film was also screened at various international film festivals.

And now Iman Walani will play the Pakistani-born character Kamala Khan in the superhero series.

Marvel Studios had confirmed on September 20 last year that a TV series would be made on the role of the first female Muslim superhero named Kamala Khan.

Marvel Studios hired four Muslim directors, including Oscar-winning Pakistani film Sharmeen Obaid Chennai, to direct the series on September 20 last month.

The TV series starring Kamala Khan will be directed by Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chanay, Indian-American Muslim filmmaker Meira Menon and Belgian-American Muslim filmmakers Adil Al Arabi and Bilal Falah.

The four directors will direct separate episodes of the TV series, but it is not clear which director will direct how many episodes and seasons.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. However, it is expected that the series will start shooting by the middle of next year.

It may be recalled that the Muslim female superhero character Kamala Khan was first introduced by Komarol Comics in the book 'Miss Marvel' in 2014. Other female superhero characters were also introduced in the same book.
