Arnab Goswami, the editor-in-chief of the Indian TV channel Republic, who was accused of being involved in a fake TRP, is facing legal action.
Arnab Goswami is under investigation for fake ratings on the one hand and Bollywood stars have also come out against him on the other.
Actors and filmmakers have filed a lawsuit against Arnab Goswami in the Delhi High Court over the channel's relentless reporting on the personalities and private lives of Bollywood personalities.
Prominent filmmakers Karan Johar, Yash Raj, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan's production companies, four film industry associations and 34 producers have filed a petition in the High Court.
The petition contends that the Republic Channel is constantly spewing venom against the private lives of Bollywood personalities, using foul language against them and making insulting remarks.
The petition seeks to bar the channel and its affiliates from conducting media trials of Bollywood personalities, from interfering in the privacy and privacy of people in the industry.
It is to be noted that an inquiry has been started against 3 TV channels including Republic for forgery in ratings. Earnings from advertisements have been increased by forgery in ratings.
The Mumbai Police Chief said that the directors and promoters of Republic TV are under investigation and the bank accounts of the three TV channels will also be investigated.
Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami is also likely to be summoned, as the relevant TV channels had raided the houses where the meters were installed.
