US officials have accused Iran of sending threatening emails to Democratic voters in various US states.
In the United States, where Republican and Democratic presidential candidates are expected to face off, a number of threatening emails have been sent to Democratic voters asking them to vote for President Trump.
An announcement made at an emergency press conference two weeks before the US election makes it clear that US officials are concerned about attempts by foreign countries to influence voter turnout by spreading false rumors.
According to the Associated Press, John Ritt Cliff, director of US National Intelligence, said it was "a desperate attempt by desperate enemies."
In a joint press conference with FBI Director Chris Ray, John Ritt Cliff said the United States would impose fines on countries that interfered in the 2020 election. However, he said that despite these efforts, the transparency of the upcoming elections has been maintained so far.
"You have to be confident that your vote counts," Chris Ray told American voters.
According to him, any contradictory claim in this regard should be viewed with suspicion and confirmed.
Ray and Ratcliffe did not elaborate on the emails, but sources familiar with the matter said the United States had recently sent Democratic voters to various states in what appeared to be a new fascist group, Proud Boys. Iran has been blamed for the emails.
"We will not leave you if you do not vote for Trump," the emails threatened.
Officials say Iran and Russia have obtained US voter data. He said Tehran used the data to send threatening emails to voters in various states, including Pennsylvania and Florida.
According to Ratcliff, the emails were intended to harm Trump. However, he did not elaborate on how he intended to harm Trump.
