He said that earlier in July, a group of fishermen had caught a fish weighing 800 kg from Degha beach near the Odisha-Bengal border.

According to reports, the fish was 8 feet long and 5 feet wide and was called 'Shankar Fish' or 'Chili Shankar' by the locals. It was sold to a fishing trade firm in West Bengal for Rs 50,000.

The fish looked like an elephant's ear or a very large shore. Experts say it is from a rare breed never seen by local fishermen. Due to its large size and weight, ropes were used to carry it off the coast.
