The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected the plea of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to ban his speeches. According to private news channel Geo, Chief Justice Athar Minallah also issued a five-page written verdict. It is not in the public interest to take matters to court. There are alternative forums for such petitions. Justice Athar Minallah said that Pakistan's security was not weak and could not be threatened by mere political rhetoric. "Petitions for political purposes make the courts controversial," the justice added.
The judgment also said that the petitioner could not satisfy which rights were being affected by Nawaz Sharif's speech. The Islamabad High Court wrote in its judgment that Pakistan's security was not weak nor was it affected by political rhetoric. There is a threat, Pakistan's security does not depend on the issuance of a writ by the court, fears of threats to Pakistan's security are the result of a misunderstanding by the petitioner.
