The process of payment of compensation to the victims of the plane crash that took place in Model Colony area of Karachi a day before Eid-ul-Adha this year will be started from tomorrow. In the first phase, Rs. 1 crore will be given to 5 victims.
Sources said that the payment of compensation to the victims of the plane crash will start from tomorrow, the victims and their families who have completed the legal documents are being paid.
In the first phase, five victims will get Rs 10 million each, while the surviving passengers Muhammad Zubair and Zafar Masood Kofi will get Rs 10 million each.
Sources said that the families of the three deceased passengers will also be paid Rs 1 crore, while 22 families affected by the plane crash will also get compensation of Rs 28 million.
Sources said that the compensation is being paid in case of burning or loss of 14 vehicles and household items. The damage to the houses of 22 families will be compensated later.
Sources said that PIA has also given six months rent to 22 families affected by the land, while Rs 10 lakh each has been paid to the families of 97 passengers and one woman who died on the land has been paid Rs 1 million and Rs 3 lakh respectively. Five lakh rupees have been paid to the injured.
The payment of compensation was started after settling the issues between PIA and the insurance company.
The plane crashed near the airport on May 22, killing 97 passengers and a woman on the ground.
