An Afghan soldier has been shot dead by an Australian soldier stationed in Afghanistan after a helicopter ran out of space.
This was revealed by a US soldier stationed in Afghanistan.
He said Australian troops had once shot and killed an Afghan national when a helicopter carrying Afghan prisoners ran out of space.
The chief of US Marine helicopter crew told Australian media that the incident took place in 2012.
He said seven Afghans were captured in a joint Australian-US counter-narcotics operation in the Afghan province of Helmand.
He said that when the pilot told him that there was no space in the helicopter, the Australian commandos shot and killed one of the Afghans and put the other six in the helicopter.
It should be noted that Australian troops are currently being investigated for war crimes in troubled Afghanistan.
