Russia successfully tests hypersonic anti-ship cruise missile on President Vladimir Putin's birthday
A statement from the Russian military said that the Tsarcon missile was fired from the Admiral Gorshkov frigate on Wednesday, hitting its target with great success at sea.
Russian Army Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov told President Putin that the missile had successfully hit a target at sea for the first time. He told the president that the missile hit the target at a speed of 8 times the speed of sound at a distance of 450 km.
On the successful test of the missile, President Vladimir Putin said that it was not only a great achievement for the life of our armed forces, but also a great moment for the whole of Russia.
Remember that the device that measures the speed of sound is called a Mac. The speed of sound is 1234.8 kmph and 8 Mac means 9600 kmph.
