5 riyal note made of plastic issued in Saudi Arabia

 

The Saudi Arabian Monitoring Authority (SAMA) has issued the first five Saudi riyal note made of plastic.

According to Saudi state media, the new polymer currency note has all the security features and will be usable for a long time.

The Saudi financial institution added that after the 5 riyal currency notes, the remaining currency notes will also be issued in phases.

According to Sama, along with the new plastic notes, the cost is also very low. While counterfeiting is not possible, nor can notes be handwritten.
