Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Siraj said in a statement on state television that he would step down by the end of next month.
He welcomed the UN-sponsored consultations and meetings between the parties to the crisis, aimed at consolidating institutions ahead of the parliamentary and presidential elections.
Siraj called on the negotiating committee to expedite the formation of a new authority to ensure a peaceful and smooth transfer of power and bring the country out of crisis.
Faiz Siraj added that he would remain in power until the new prime minister is handed over.
He hoped that the negotiating committee would complete its mission before the end of October.
