In the US city of Manhattan, the federal attorney general has charged a former UN employee with trying to cover up several sexual assaults in Iraq, Egypt and the United States.
Karim al-Qurani, 37, from New Jersey, worked with the United Nations between 2005 and 2018 in various positions at agencies such as international aid, development and foreign relations, according to the International News Agency. Allegations include lying to the FBI and sexually assaulting women after drugging them. In 2016, a woman said Al-Korani had used drugs in her apartment in Iraq. After being fed and unconscious, he was sexually assaulted. Investigators have uncovered other similar crimes. Al-Korani committed similar crimes against five other women between 2009 and 2016. Al-Korani used to tell women after they were raped.
