Punjab government decides to crack down on illegal housing societies across the province

Punjab Housing Minister Mian Mahmood Al-Rasheed has said that crackdown is being launched against illegal housing societies across the province. The report will be completed in two months.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of heads of various development authorities of the province at the office of Rawalpindi Development Authority. Minister for Housing Mian Mahmood Rashid said that heavy fines would also be imposed on housing societies violating housing laws. He said that plans should be made to create economic zones on both sides of the Ring Road. He said that the Ring Road project would lead to economic development in Rawalpindi and educational institutions and hospitals would be set up along the Ring Road which would improve education and health facilities for the citizens. He said that a vegetable and fruit market would also be set up near Ring Road. On this occasion various schemes being implemented in Rawalpindi were reviewed and the Minister for Housing appreciated the performance of Rawalpindi Development Authority.

Chairman RDA Tariq Mahmood and DGRDA Amara Khan briefed the Minister for Housing on the performance of the Development Authority. The DGRDA said that kitchen gardening project is underway in the city as well as poultry. For farming, chickens have been distributed to one thousand rural families and 10,000 plants have also been distributed among the citizens. He said that RDA was planting trees on three acres of land which would prove to be an important milestone in the beauty of Rawalpindi city. He said that important progress was being made in the city of Rawalpindi in terms of demolition and reconstruction of old dilapidated buildings.
