No summons notice issued to Fazlur Rehman: NAB
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has said that no notice of summons has been issued to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman for questioning.
NAB sources said that reports about Maulana Fazlur Rehman's summons on social media were baseless.
According to sources, NAB Rawalpindi has summoned former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today. He has been summoned in the case of appointment of MD Mineral Development Corporation Khalid Sajjad Khokhar.
It should be noted that news had been circulating in the media for some days that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had summoned Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the opposition Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F).
Earlier, it was reported that the NAB had summoned Maulana Fazlur Rehman under Section 19 on charges of financial corruption and possession of assets in excess of income.
Akram Khan Durrani had said in his statement that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had not accurately assessed the stature of Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
He further said that the decision of Maulana Fazlur Rehman to join NAB or not will be taken by none other than JUI.
Hafiz Hussain Ahmed had said in a statement that NAB is being used for revenge and its own survival in the name of accountability. After the APC, Maulana Fazlur Rehman's summons to NAB shows that the arrow is aimed.
The JUI-F spokesperson further said that NAB's speed breaker is used when opposition leaders speed up against the government.
