Disappointed with the Arab countries, Palestine left the presidency of the Arab League

Palestine has resigned from the presidency of the regional organization Arab League after the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain did not condemn the resumption of diplomatic relations with Israel. Palestine was to chair Arab League meetings for the next six months, but today in Ramallah. During a press conference, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riaz al-Maliki announced his resignation from the presidency of the Arab League and said that Palestine would only chair the current meeting.

It is believed that a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the 22 member countries of the Arab League was held on September 9 under the chairmanship of Palestine in which Palestine presented a resolution condemning the Israeli-Arab agreements which was not agreed upon by the member states. Then, on September 15, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed an agreement to establish relations with Israel.
