Corona virus vaccine trial begins in Pakistan

The third phase of clinical trial of Cansino, a possible vaccine for corona virus, has begun in Pakistan.

The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) announced the launch of the third clinical trial of the vaccine developed by Ken Sino Biologics of China for the novel Corona virus.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister Asad Umar wrote in a tweet on the social networking website Twitter that the third phase of trial for code 19 vaccine has started in Pakistan.

He wrote that this vaccine has been developed by a Chinese company and 40,000 people in 7 countries will take part in this trial, of which 8,000 to 10,000 will be Pakistanis.

Asad Omar said preliminary results of the trial were expected in four to six months.

Meanwhile, Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, held a press conference along with Major General Amir Ikram, Executive Director, National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Faisal Sultan said that the launch of the trial was an important step and said that Pakistan has now joined the list of countries which are conducting clinical trials of COD 19 vaccine.

He expressed confidence that this vaccine would be safe and effective which would benefit not only the people of Pakistan but also the people of the world.

He said that the clinical trial of the vaccine would increase the capacity of the country to develop other vaccines against various diseases.

"Everyone is likely to benefit from this. I want to congratulate all the team and the people," he said.

He said that at present the eyes of the whole world are on the vaccine, at present about 7 vaccines are running in phase 3 trials out of which 3 are from China.

He also spoke about the various trials of the vaccine, saying that the first phase involved animal trials in China, with good results, followed by Phase 2 trials on 508 humans. When better results were obtained, it was published in medical journals.

He said that phase 3 trial is the biggest and most difficult task but we accepted this challenge, this phase started from today in which we will vaccinate about 8 to 10 thousand volunteers with the results. Results are expected in 4 to 6 weeks.

However, he said that it is maintained for 12 months to see if antibodies are being produced while the safety of the vaccine has been ensured and it is being given to security personnel in China.
