Helicopter hijacked in Belgium to rescue prisoners
According to the details, the Belgian police are actively searching for the 3 people who hijacked a helicopter at gunpoint from Darne area of Antwerp, the second largest city of Belgium on Friday.
According to a spokesman for the Antwerp Public Prosecutor, the men forced the 36-year-old female pilot to take the helicopter over Brussels' famous Forest Prison, but she could not find a place to land.
At the same time, the prison administration saw a helicopter flying overhead and informed the police, but before the arrival of the police helicopter, the hijackers took it to the Helison area of Baraban Valonia and fled.
Immediately after the helicopter took off, the prison administration suspended all activities and counted the inmates, but no inmates were found.
It is to be noted that this is the second incident of hijacking a helicopter in Belgium to release the prisoners.
Earlier in July 2009, three inmates escaped from the Bruges prison's exercise yard in a similar incident during a hijacked helicopter.
