A horrific explosion in the Lebanese capital Beirut shook the entire city. The blast killed more than 200 people, injured more than 6,000 and left more than 300,000 homeless. Now a shocking revelation has come out about this blast. According to Reuters, Lebanese security officials wrote a letter to the government just two weeks before the blast, warning that 2,750 metric tons of ammonium nitrate stored at the port could explode at any time. That would destroy the entire city, but the government did not heed the security officials' warning.
According to the report, the letter was sent by security officials to both Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab and President Michael Aoun. Thousands of angry citizens took to the streets in Beirut in recent days after the blast. Violent incidents also took place during which horrific clashes took place between police and protesters. As a result of the protests, Prime Minister Hassan and his cabinet resigned on Monday night. However, he has been asked to maintain his position as caretaker government until a new government is formed. Even after the resignation of the Prime Minister and his cabinet, people are still protesting and demanding the resignation of the President who has been holding the presidency since 2016. The protesters said that despite the warning given by the security authorities two weeks ago, not taking appropriate action is the culmination of the government's incompetence. Therefore, there is no justification for such a government to survive.
