South Sudan 127 killed in clashes between civilians and soldiers.

At least 127 people have been killed and several others injured in clashes between civilians and military personnel in the North African country of South Sudan.

According to the international news agency, during the ongoing operation against illegal weapons in the town of Tunj in South Sudan, a country that gained independence from Sudan in 2011, there was a clash between soldiers and civilians. Indiscriminate firing from both sides killed 127 people and injured more than 45.

Maj. Gen. Rawai, a spokesman for the obsessive Sudanese army, told AFP that 45 security personnel and 82 local youths were among those killed. Another 32 soldiers were wounded. The dead and injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital where the condition of six injured is said to be critical.

Civil war has been raging in the country since Sudan's independence, with President Silva Kiir appointing political leader Rike Macher as vice president on condition that the groups withdraw their weapons.
