Israel, UAE agreement: 'bold, shameful, good news', mixed response globally.

Israel and the United Arab Emirates have announced a "peace agreement" that will restore diplomatic relations between the two states.

According to the AFP news agency, the global reaction to the aforementioned political developments in the Middle East has begun.

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump, while announcing the peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), had said that the two countries have agreed to establish bilateral relations.

The US president had said that the Israeli and UAE delegations would sign bilateral agreements in the coming weeks on investment, tourism, direct flights, security and the establishment of mutual embassies.

Under the agreement, Israel will temporarily suspend its declaration of sovereignty in the West Bank.

Israel

"This is a historic day," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted in Hebrew.

"Today marks the beginning of a new era in Israeli-Arab relations," he said in a televised address.

United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) says a peace deal with Israel is a bold step that will help resolve the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

During a press conference, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Qarqash said that he could not say anything definite about the embassies in both the countries but it would definitely not take much time.

Hamas

Hamas, the ruling party in the Gaza Strip, has rejected the deal, saying it does not serve Palestinian goals.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasim told AFP that the agreement with the UAE was a "reward for Israeli occupation and crime."

A statement said Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas had called for an "emergency meeting" of the Palestinian leadership on the Israeli-UAE agreement.

United Nations

A spokesman for the United Nations said in a statement following the announcement of the agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates that the secretary-general "welcomes any move to promote peace and security in the Middle East."

Iran

Tasnim news agency affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards in Iran said that the agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is shameful.

Iran's spiritual leader has not yet commented on the deal.

Egypt

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi praised the role of the United States between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

"I read with interest and admiration the joint statement between the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Israel on blocking Israel's annexation of the Palestinian territories," he said in a tweet.

The Egyptian president added that this would help bring "peace" to the Middle East.

"I commend the efforts of the architects of this agreement for the prosperity and stability of our region," he said.

It should be noted that Israel does not have formal diplomatic relations with the Arab states, Israel has formal diplomatic relations with two neighboring Arab countries, Egypt and Jordan.

United Kingdom

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also welcomed the agreement.

He said in a tweet that the decision to normalize relations between the UAE and Israel was good news.

Boris Johnson said he was "deeply interested" in Israel's non-accession to the West Bank and that today's agreement would suspend Israel's decision on accession, "which is a welcome step towards peace in the Middle East."
