In China, a 7-year-old boy swallowed a pencil while copying a TV show during homework.

According to a report of a foreign news agency, a 7-year-old boy in Hunan province of China swallowed a pencil while imitating kung fu during homework.

The boy said he was trying to imitate actors who swallowed swords during homework he had seen on kung fu TV shows.

The child was rushed to the hospital on a complaint of abdominal pain where doctors removed a pencil from the child's abdomen after the surgery and saved his life. The child has been discharged from the hospital after the surgery.

The chief medical officer said: "The baby was lucky because the pencil was pointed upwards. If it was turned downwards, his stomach and digestion could be affected.

The doctor urged parents to warn their children of the dangers of swallowing toys or tools, otherwise such a move could endanger their lives.

Earlier, a young girl in China had swallowed a pearl necklace during a game, which was removed by doctors after a successful surgery.
