Due to the extreme heat in Belgium, Code Red has been implemented. The code, issued by the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI), means that citizens must take immediate action to protect their elders and children from extreme heat.
Keep your windows and doors closed and drink plenty of water to avoid going out in the sun.
Remember that due to the increase in global temperature for some years, there are some days on European soil which are unbearable for the elderly due to the increase in heat.
During this time, the atmosphere is so hot and stinging that it makes it difficult for older people to breathe and as a result, they die. Therefore, the government implements this color alert system to warn the citizens in advance.
According to RMI, the temperature can stay above 37 degrees during code read. This red code will remain in effect until Monday.
