Dr. Maha Ali Shah, who shot himself in his house on the night of August 18 in Karachi Defense Phase IV, was rushed to Jinnah Hospital in critical condition, where the lady doctor died during the initial rescue efforts.
According to hospital sources, Maha Ali died while undergoing medical treatment in the emergency ward of the hospital. Therefore, the postmortem of the body was not done but the medical report was issued by Dr. Hassan Ahmed, Medico Legal Officer of Jinnah Hospital.
According to Medical Report No. 7478, Dr. Maha Ali was shot in the conch with his left hand. According to SSP South Shiraz Nazir, the evidence at the scene was found to contradict the medical report.
He said that according to the evidence found at the scene, Maha Ali sat on the floor between the wall of the left hand inside the bathroom and the commode, leaning against the back wall, and with the right hand on the commode, nine mm. He turned his shotgun on himself when apprehended by a police officer on the porch of the house where the shootings took place.
When the door was broken open, the severely injured Maha Ali's head was on the commode. Pictures of the bullet's entry and exit points on the deceased's head show both wounds two to three centimeters long.
According to SSP Shiraz Nazir, the evidence available during the interrogation proved that Maha Ali Shah shot himself as it was not possible for the commode to shoot anyone standing or sitting. On the other hand, the medical report is hinting at killing the lady doctors instead of committing suicide.

In this regard, police sources said that the concerned MLO took information from the doctors of the hospital emergency and issued a medico-legal report. The wounds were not checked nor was the body examined after Maha Ali's death.
After contacting MLO Hassan Ahmed, when he was introduced to take a stand, he hung up. According to Karachi Police Surgeon Dr Karar Ali Abbasi, the medical report was prepared while giving first aid to the injured.
He said that in such a situation, saving the life of the patient is often preferred. This is often the case in the initial medical report. He said that if the family members do postmortem of the body, the correct report will come out. According to the police surgeon, the problem can be solved if the body is autopsied after exhumation.
