The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against six people, including actress Riya Chakraborty, in the Shant Singh Rajput suicide case. The CBI has registered an FIR against Riya Chakraborty, Inderjit Chakraborty, Sindhia Chakraborty, Samuel Miranda, Sharti Modi and others.

The CBI on Thursday registered a case against Riya Chakraborty and five others on charges including inciting Shashant Singh Rajput to commit suicide, criminal conspiracy, theft, fraud and intimidation. The CBI has registered the case on the basis of an FIR lodged by the Bihar Police. CBI SIT team is investigating the case of Shashant Rajput. The team has also asked the Bihar police for all the documents of the investigation so far.

It may be recalled that the central government had on Wednesday approved the Bihar government's recommendation to conduct a CBI probe into the death of actress Shant Singh Rajput. Shant Singh Rajput died on June 14 in Mumbai. The issue then took on a political dimension. The ruling Shiv Sena-led coalition government in Maharashtra did not like the CBI probe.
