The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a contempt of court show cause notice to Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul in connection with the killing of animals at a zoo in the federal capital.
While hearing the case, the apex court also issued contempt show cause notices to members of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, Secretary Climate Change Naheed Durrani and Malik Amin Aslam, advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah issued show cause notice and sought reply. The apex court rejected the Deputy Attorney General's plea not to issue show cause notice. On the occasion, Secretary Climate Change Naheed Durrani said that I accept full responsibility for the incident, the cabinet members have nothing to do with it.
Chief Justice Atharmanullah said that the Cabinet had approved the Wildlife Board and he was also responsible. The Secretary Climate Change said that the Law Ministry had opined that no cabinet member could be a member of the Islamabad Wildlife Board Management.
Chief Justice Atharmanullah said that a notification was issued to the Wildlife Management Board which was approved by the Cabinet. After the approval of the Cabinet, the notification was also made a part of the court decision.
He said that show cause notices of contempt of court are being issued. Board members should state what they want to say in written reply. Should I take up the notification of 2015 at your request and hold the Prime Minister responsible for this matter?
Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that the Prime Minister will not even know what happened in this case, unfortunately you are also trying to bring the Prime Minister in this matter. He said that if it was time to take credit then everyone While visiting the zoo, when something went wrong, everyone said we didn't belong.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that the international conventions are for the protection of humanity and animals. Did you know that 40 giraffes were imported and all of them died? Import of animals should be banned. There were 900 animals in the house, 400 animals were brought this year, they are also investigating where 50% of the animals went in one year?
