Fauzia Koofi, a member of the government team for talks with the Afghan Taliban, was shot and wounded by unknown individuals in Kabul. The Taliban have denied any involvement in the attack.
Afghan officials say Fauzia Kofi suffered minor injuries in a shooting by unknown individuals on Saturday. He called the attack on former lawmaker Fauzia Kofi a "murderous attack".
The president of Afghanistan, as well as senior politicians involved in the peace process, have strongly condemned the incident.
"I strongly condemn the assassination attempt on Fauzia Kofi and call on the government to arrest the perpetrators and find out the motives behind the attack," Abdullah Abdullah, head of the National Reconciliation High Council, wrote on Twitter.
