KABUL (Daily Pakistan Online): Four new members have been added to the team formed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) for inter-Afghan talks. Wing chief Mullah Mohammad Yaqub has also been included.

According to the Associated Press, the Taliban has added powerful figures to its team for inter-Afghan talks, which has been approved by Taliban leader Mullah Habibullah.

Following Mullah Habibullah's approval, Mullah Mohammad Yaqub, head of the Taliban's military wing and deputy leader of the party, has been added to the negotiating team. In addition, Taliban-era Chief Justice Maulvi Saqib and Mullah Hibatullah's close associate Abdul Hakim have also been made part of the negotiating team.

Taliban sources told the Associated Press on condition of anonymity that the change was strengthening the Taliban's military and political grip.

It may be recalled that Mullah Mohammad Yaqub was appointed commander of the Taliban's military wing in May this year.
