46 new cases of Novel Coronavirus mainland

BEIJING (Xinhua) - China's National Health Commission said on Saturday it had received reports of 46 new cases of the novel coronavirus on the Chinese mainland, 35 of which were transmitted locally.

The National Health Commission said in its daily report on Sunday that 22 of the locally transmitted cases were in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and 13 in Lianying Province. The commission said one person died of the disease on Saturday. On Saturday, 19 patients with the Novel Corona virus were discharged from hospitals after recovering, while 2 new suspected cases were reported. The total number of confirmed cases on the mainland reached 83,830 by Saturday, of which 288 were patients. Is still undergoing treatment while 18 are seriously ill.

The commission said a total of 78,908 people had been discharged after recovering, while 4,634 had died from the disease. On Saturday, 11 new import cases were uncovered, including five in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and three in Guangdong Province. One case each has been reported in Tianjin, Fujian and Shandong provinces. As many as 2,045 import cases have been reported on the mainland by the end of the week, of which 1,963 have been discharged from hospitals. 82 are still in hospitals while 2 are in critical condition. No deaths were reported in the import cases.

The commission said there were still three suspected cases of the novel coronavirus. According to the commission, 11,762 close co-ordinators were still under medical supervision. On Saturday, 673 people were discharged from medical surveillance. The commission said that 292 cases without symptoms were still under medical supervision out of which 91 cases were from abroad on the mainland. As of Saturday, 2,505 confirmed cases, including 18 deaths in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, 46 confirmed cases in the Macau Special Administrative Region and 458 confirmed cases, including seven deaths in Taiwan.

In Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, 1,455 patients with Novel Coronavirus have been discharged from hospitals, 46 in Macao Special Administrative Region and 440 in Taiwan.
