A man who approached a court against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's publicity through a vaccination campaign has been fined Rs 100,000 by the Indian judiciary for wasting a judge's time.
According to the AFP news agency, despite the death of 500,000 people from the corona virus in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government in India is running a publicity campaign and vaccination certificates as well as banners installed in various places mentioning the government's achievements. Modi's credit is being tied.
A picture of Narendra Modi has been affixed on vaccination cards and billboards as well as on passenger planes and celebrations are being held at the government level declaring the introduction of one billion crore-19 vaccines as a milestone.
The campaign contradicts criticism of the Modi government following the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, with political opponents sharply criticizing the government's celebration, suggesting that it also include the PM's city on the death certificates of those killed by the code.
Peter Myaliprampal, a resident of the Indian state of South Kerala, had objected to a picture of Modi affixed on a vaccination certificate.
He argued in court that the vaccination campaign in India was in danger of becoming a media campaign for Prime Minister Modi.
In his application, Peter said that he paid for his own vaccine and that the image of Modi on his certificate did not match in any way.
However, the Kerala High Court dismissed the case as "politically motivated" and imposed a fine of Rs.
"If the petitioner is embarrassed to see a picture of his prime minister, he may turn his gaze towards the bottom of the vaccine certificate," the court ruled.
Petitioner's lawyer told AFP he would appeal the decision.
More than 477,000 people have been confirmed dead from the corona virus in India, the highest number of deaths from the virus in any country after the United States and Brazil.
The government had justified the use of PM Modi's face in the campaign, claiming that using the PM's face had helped in raising awareness against the virus.
