TTP maintains ties with Afghan Taliban, UN says

A report prepared for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) warns that the banned militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has 6,000 trained fighters near the border in Afghanistan.

According to report of the UN's "Analytical Assistance and Sanctions Monitoring Team" also confirmed the presence of hundreds of anti-Beijing militants near the Afghan border with China.

A chapter in the report entitled "The Taliban's Perspective on Foreign Terrorists" states that foreign terrorists may be inclined towards ISIS and the TTP.

The report added that "operational sanctions imposed on the PTP have led to (deadly) clashes between the Taliban and the group.

According to the UN report, "despite growing mistrust, the TTP and the Taliban continue to run the relationship as before."

According to a UN report, the TTP is located in the eastern districts of Nangarhar Province, near the border with Pakistan.

"Between December 2019 and August 2020, there was a renewed alliance between the TTP and some separate groups in Afghanistan," the UN team said.

According to the report, it included the Shehryar Mehsud group, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JUA), Hizb-ul-Ahrar, Amjad Farooqi group and Usman Saifullah group (formerly known as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi) and al-Qaeda allegedly mediated between these groups. Keep playing the role of choice.

The report said that the splinter groups' involvement in the TTP has increased their power, with the number of armed fighters now estimated at 2,500 to 6,000, and the group will be led by Noor Wali from June 2018. Mehsud is doing.

According to the UN team, the TTP has "anti-Pakistan objectives" but supports the Afghan Taliban inside Afghanistan against Afghan government forces.
