Ali Haider Gilani, an elected member of the Punjab Assembly from Multan, submitted his resignation to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. It may be recalled that Ali Haider Gilani is the son of former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Ali Haider Gilani also shared a photo of his handwritten resignation on Twitter and said that he had given his resignation to intensify the struggle for democracy in Pakistan.
In his resignation, Ali Haider Gilani has given the chairman of the PPP the power to use it as he wishes. He has also attached a copy with him to send to the speaker.
"Resign, I will show by holding new elections," the Prime Minister also announced bluntly
It may be recalled that at the PDM summit on Tuesday, it was decided that all members of the opposition assembly would submit their resignations to the party leadership by December 31. Some PML-N MPAs have already submitted their resignations before the PDM's announcement.
